Create text documents with Meta AI on www.meta.ai
You can use Meta AI to help you create text documents on www.meta.ai. Meta AI can generate a document for you and you can edit it as you wish. You can have Meta AI generate documents for you for a wide variety of purposes, like letters, travel planners, stories and more.
Note: Creating text documents is currently in beta and you may experience technical difficulties. You must log into www.meta.ai with your Meta, Facebook or Instagram account to create text documents.
Create a text document on Meta AI
- Go to www.meta.ai in your browser.
- Click Ask Meta AI… and type a prompt for what you’d like to create. Example: For help creating a vacation packing list, type in something like “Help me make a packing list for a beach trip.”
- Click

Canvas to enable creating text documents.
- Click
Send to submit the prompt. Meta AI will respond in the editor.
Once your document is created, you can directly edit what Meta AI generated for you. At the top of the document you can access formatting options for the text. You can also have Meta AI change the style of your text document by clicking Rewrite, then clicking how you'd like Meta AI to rewrite it. (Ex: Make formal or Make casual.)
As you’re editing, if you highlight a section of text, you’ll open the floating toolbar. The toolbar has options for asking Meta AI about the highlighted text and inserting images imagined by Meta AI.

Ask Meta AI - Ask Meta AI questions directly or have it edit your document.
Imagine - Insert an image generated by Meta AI based on your selected text.
As you or Meta AI edits your text, it’ll be saved in versions automatically. You can browse through versions by clicking

- Similar to other chats, interactions with AI are subject to our Community Standards and Terms of Service.
- An AI’s response may be inaccurate or inappropriate and should not be used to make important decisions.
- Meta uses your interactions with AIs to improve AI at Meta. If the AIs cannot answer your query, Meta shares the messages you send to AI and general information, like your region, with select partners so you can get better results. Visit our Meta AI Terms of Service to learn more.
- Meta AI uses your location information to give you more relevant responses. Your location information is based on things like the settings you've chosen on your device, or your activity across our products. Learn more about how to manage your location in the Privacy Center.
- Other information from your profile such as your age and gender, and interests based on your activity across our products, such as the types of content, including ads, you view or interact with and how you interact with it, will be used to help personalize your interactions with AI. - Depending on your prompt, the content generated may go against our Community Standards or Terms of Service of Meta's platforms. Sharing AI-generated content on our platforms that go against these standards will be treated the same as sharing other content that go against our standards. If you share generated content that goes against our standards, your content may be removed and your account may be restricted or disabled.
